Bef has excelled as a cartoonist, writer and graphic designer. In his role as novelist he has published Tiempo de Alacranes, El ladrón de Sueños, Gel Azul, Hielo Negro, among others.

As a cartoonist, he is well known for Monorama (two volumes), ¡Cielos, Mi Marido! y Espiral. He collaborated with Juan Villoro in the graphic novel La calavera de Cristal. As for children's literature, he has published El libro de los Cuentos, El llanto de los Niños Muertos and Cuento de Hadas para Conejos.

Uncle Bill is his latest published work, this is an ambitious graphic novel that tells the story of William Burroughs in Mexico.

Bef work has been recognized with the Grijalbo Novel Prize for Hielo Negro; Ignotus Prize for Gel azul; The Black Novel National Prize for Tiempo de Alacranes; and the National Journalism Award for his work as Art Director in Complot magazine.
