CELESTINO MARINA

Nickelodeon Artist Program

Celestino Marina was born in Mexico City and raised in Laredo, Texas. A passion for art and storytelling lead him to pursue and study animation at the California College of the Arts in Oakland, CA; where he was mentored by an amazing group of professionals. Their wisdom and generosity was very impactful. While in school, he realized that what he loved most about animation was the same thing he loved about drawing: the medium’s potential to tell stories! Having had a tremendous passion for film his whole life, it would be no surprise that the most fun he’d ever have would be found in making films like ‘Amigo’ alongside his friends. A few days after graduating, Celestino found himself animating on ‘The Dam Keeper’, an independent animated short, with an great group of artists and professionals.

A year later, Celestino was selected to be a part of the Nickelodeon Artist Program, where he trained under the generous and talented ‘Harvey Beaks’ crew. Upon completing the program, he was hired as a storyboard revisionist on the show and eventually storyboarded two episodes. During his time at Nickelodeon, Celestino pitched an animated short to Nickelodeon’s Animated Shorts Program called ‘The Girl from Dinosaur Island’, which was selected out of 400 submission to be one of the eight produced.
