Bill Plympton is an advocate for independent animation, and he is recognized as one of the great animators of all time.

He had created over 40 animated short films and seven animated features. He has also published a comic book, has made animated music videos, and worked with the animation and graphics of computer video games and documentary films. His work has been broadcasted on television in a number of tv shows over the decades (notably on MTV in the 1990s) and are part of several anthologies.

Plympton's illustrations and cartoons have been published in The New York Times, as well as in the magazines like Vogue, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Penthouse, and National Lampoon. His political cartoon strip Plympton, appeared in over 20 newspapers. His distinctive style is easily recognized.

His work has been nominated for an Oscar (Guard Dog in 2000, and Your Face 1988), and has been awarded and nominated at several prestigious festivals like Cannes, Sundance, and Annecy (including one special prize and 2 Annie’s nominations).

He’s one of the directors chosen to direct a segment of The Prophet (2015), produced by Salma Hayek.
