PIXELATL'S MANIFESTO 2017

Storytelling is sharing

To share means to “split with,” to divide something with someone. What is distributed belongs to both. Originally, the concept “symbol” referred to the act of splitting a coin between two people so that each will carry a part of it.

This meant that each was carrying something very valuable, the other person. When the two halves got back together, then they would create a symbol (Sym = together, bolo = coin) The split coin, now complete, becomes something else, something bigger and deeper because it now contains a story that belongs to two people.

Storytelling is a symbol

When a story is told, the narrative becomes public and does not belong solely to the creator. It belongs to all those who listen, talk about it, and interpret it.

Storytelling unites us because we share our soul with others and they carry a part of us in their lives. That’s the reason storytelling makes us human.

Sharing a story transforms us into others. Storytelling makes us whole. Storytelling creates a community.
